Hey, it’s time to celebrate. Summer is officially here and it’s about time we enjoy the temps and say hello to outdoor events. Come on, who wants to stay indoors when you can enjoy the fresh scents of nature, the salty air of the sea, and endless options of frosé summer offers. And while it may be the season for tight tanks and teeny bikinis, it’s also musical fest season.
Yes, SXSW has come and gone and Coachella flower crowns are a thing of the past (well, until 2019). But there is more to music than SXSW and Coachella. The summer holds so, so, so many music festivals worth checking out.
See what we highlighted below and also check out: Electric Forest in Michigan, Sasquatch! Music Festival in Washington, and Lollapalooza and Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
Bonnaroo: June 7–10, 2018
This fest is no longer for the hippie dippie type who loves a jam band and a camping tent. No, Bonnaroo has become huge and is also for the music masses with Eminem, The Killers, and Muse headlining this year. Go general admission and camp in your car or experience VIP in the Platinum Cabanas or VIP Luxury Le Bon Tents. (Sounds like glamping to us!)
Firefly Festival: June 10-14, 2018
Right off the heels of Bonnaroo comes a similar festival in the remote fields miles outside of Philly, Wilmington, and Baltimore. Birthed in 2012, Firefly is new to the festival scene but boasts a heavyweight lineup of renowned headliners and emerging artists, including everyone from Kendrick Lamar and MGMT to Chet Porter and Flint Eastwood.
AFROPUNK FEST Brooklyn: August 25-26, 2018
Need a little something extra in your music festival? Look no further. AFROPUNK FEST offers art, music, activism, and more. Enjoy the sounds of headliners Erykah Badu, Miguel, Tyler, The Creator, discover emerging artists, and experience all the festival’s events within the event — like Spinthrift Market, Bites&Beats, and Activisim Row.
Electric Zoo: August 31 – September 2, 2018
Festivals aren’t just for humongous fields and deserts. Imagine gazing at the NYC skyline while bouncing to the beats of the hottest electric music of the moment. Hit Randall’s Island for Electric Zoo to see Kaskade and Marshmello “unz unz unz” it aside the Hudson River.
